In preparation for the 2021-22 school year, Oxford Community Preschool is currently in search of Preschool Teachers and Preschool Teacher Assistants.

Oxford Community Preschool provides a safe and nurturing environment for children aged 2 through 5 years. We offer age appropriate, center-based opportunities for exploration and academic success in preparation for Kindergarten. Our preschool strives to provide highly trained teachers who will lead each child individually through developmental milestones, socially, emotionally, physically, cognitively, and spiritually.

Preschool Teacher Assistant Qualifications/Requirements:

o High School Diploma or equivalent o Previous professional child care experience preferred

o Strong understanding of Child Development

o CPR and First Aid Certified is preferred

o High level of flexibility, energy, and willingness to work as part of a team with other staff, children, and parents

o Must be able to lift 40 pounds and move freely around a typical classroom in order to safely supervise children at all times

o Provide background checks prior to start date

 

Preschool Teacher Assistant Job Responsibilities:

o Work as part of the teaching team to provide a positive learning environment through the lens of a biblical worldview.

o Assist other passionate preschool teachers and staff to implement an engaging and developmentally appropriate curriculum that addresses the areas of social, emotional, physical, cognitive, and spiritual growth. Share ideas in planning a daily schedule that provides a balance of thematic activities: quiet/active, indoor/outdoor, fine/gross motor, etc.

o Ability to follow lesson plans and to take on the role of lead teacher in the case of teacher absence.

o Encourage and model social behavior and expectations that are developmentally appropriate. Intervene when needed to maintain safety. Enhance children’s play with language, music, toys, and activities.

o Effectively partner and communicate with lead teacher to ensure lesson plans and activities are completed in a timely manner. Assist with the preparation of classroom projects before, during, and after school.

o Assist teacher in set up of classroom prior to the beginning of the school year. Assist with classroom and hallway bulletin boards with seasonal and thematic changes. Assist with clean up of classroom at the end of the school year.

o Assist with student assessments as needed throughout the school year.

o Assist in the preparation and attend field trips throughout the year that enrich what children are learning in the classroom.

o Attend and actively participate in staff meetings and professional development trainings throughout the school year.

o Help set up, attend, and clean up family events throughout the school year.
