Ask Your Child About:
Number 4: Rhyme: Down and over, down once more, this is how we make a four.

Letter Pp: Alpha Crow will eat letter Pp words this week. We will be making pancakes and enjoying them in the room. We will also talk about Polar Bears and Penguins. We will be painting a Polar Snow Scene.
Lollipop Kids: To encourage kids to say their ABC’s in order and be able to sequence them we are going to have the Lollipop Kids Chart. Each lollipop will have a capital letter on it. When they have placed the lollipops in order and sing the song to me (all with help and encouragement)after completion the child will be asked to write his/her name on the chart. Each day the kids will be asked to do this individually, with a partner and in small groups. At the end of the week each child will receive a lollipop for their hard work and practice!
Mitten Mysteries with Numbers: Each child will be given a partner in class and throughout the day he/she will be asked to find a certain number on a mitten. They can only bring me their number. We will begin to hang the mittens in order as we find them.
Trapezoid: We will be introducing trapezoids this week.
Rhyming Game: Each child will have a picture taped to their back. They need to ask another child to tell them what is on their back. They then need to go find the child with a picture that rhymes with their picture. The children stand with their arms locked and repeat the rhyme together for everyone to hear.
Winter Animals: We will be learning about penguins, polar bears, snowshoe rabbits, and wolves through different stories and games this week.
Hibernation Game: Learning what animals do when they hibernate and what happens when spring arrives. (parachute as a cave and music played for spring)
Slippery Sledding: Poem learned with Penguins. Each child will bring the flannel board song home to do with their families. (Learn about penguins and the role that the mother and father have in taking care of their young). Each child will have an opportunity to slide a penguin on their bellies down the slide, just like real penguins entering the water.
Fabulous Fish: Placing goldfish on a paper penguin learning directional words and them enjoying the snack!
Polar Bear Says: Another version of Simon Says (however, I will be asking the children to go find and bring me certain shapes, numbers, letters and objects in the room.
Polar Bear Book: Each child will make and bring home their own book abut a Polar Bear.
Science Connection: As we talk about winter animals and their warm coats we will discuss “critter coverings” and the different textures that each animal has. This will lead us into opposites of what climate each animal can live. (hot, cold; smooth, rough; furry, scaly; etc…Each child will create their own book to bring home.
