Monday, January 11th

Rainbow Room

Morning Meeting:  Pledge, Calendar, Weather and Songs (all week)

 introduced Clare as "Star of the Week" & introduced J as our "Letter of the Week"

We read The Jacket I Wear in the Snow

We retold the story on the chart as a rebus (put the pictures on the chart where they belonged from the story)

sequenced the story using real witner clothing

Table Centers:  We reviewed the letter Ss by identifying them in the poem

We practiced writing the number 1

we matched which winter clothes cover which body part

Rug

Clare's show n tell and we read Thomas' Snowsuit

Centers:  we sequenced The Jacket I Wear in the Snow

We started decorating jackets with all kinds of fancy decorations (this will be an all week long project)

We had a snowball fight and identified the letters on the snowball

Tuesday, January 12th

Rainbow Room

Morning Meeting:  We had to find our matching upper and lower case letter partner on the snowballs

Mr. Crow read  The Jaguar's Jam Jamboree and he introduced J objects.  We also played "What's Missing" with the J objects with Mr. Crow

Table Centers:  We practiced writing the letter J and we practiced writing the number 2

we retold The Mitten using puppets

We sang our winter songs

Centers:  we finished our number 2 papers and we retold The Mitten  with our own, personal Mitten books

Wednesday, January 13th

Rainbow Room

Morning Meeting:  we went upstairs and played with the parachute and our letter matching snowballs

we read No Time Like Snow Time and  Snowmen at Night

Table Centers:  we worked on our Mitten Books & we practiced writing the numbers 1 and 2

Centers:  we worked on our "jackets"  and we worked on rip and tear snowmen for our Snowmen at Night art project

we dictated what our snowmen do at night

Friday, January 15th

Rainbow Room

Crazy Hat Day

Morning Meeting:  we showed off our crazy hats

We read The Hat and compared The Hat to the Mitten

Table Centers:  We made our own hat books and cut out and decorated snowflakes for a snowflake song

we sang our winter songs

Clare's show n tell and we read Caps for Sale

we had jellybeans with our snack for the letter Jj

Centers:  we worked on decorating our jackets and our rip and tear snowmen for our Snowmen at Night

Reminders;  No school on Monday for Martin Luther King Day
